JULY 24 - The annual Dragon Boat Festival hit the South Saskatchewan River in Saskatoon earlier today and kept a healthy sized crowd on a hot summers day entertained with races going up and down the river. My favourite shots from the day can be found at the link in on this page.

Jugglers in Downtown Saskatoon

To be able to photograph pretty much anything that happens around us is one thing that I am always trying to do. In this case, I was driving to River Landing in Saskatoon to test out the 1.4x Teleconverter I had ordered from Lens Rentals Canada for Wake Ride, and came across a couple of jugglers in front of the Delta Bessborough. Pictured is one of the jugglers that was down there that evening.

WakeRide 2010 in Saskatoon

July 9-11 saw Wired 96.3 presenting the second annual Wakeride 2010. Filled with wake riding on the river, slider pools, beer gardens, kids area, awesome food and kickass bands, no one left the all day outdoor festival unhappy. Below are photos and a video compilation from the day.

Canada Day at the Dunes

July 1, Canada Day, brought an amazing fireworks display at Dakota Dunes Casino just south of Saskatoon. The spectacle which drew an extremely large crowd of people lasted just under 45 minutes and was well worth the mosquito bites. Full video and photo gallery found below.

Brandi Disterheft Quartet at the Jazz Festival

On July 1 at 2 p.m., Brandi Disterheft Quartet took the stage at the Sasktel Saskatchewan Jazz Festival (#saskjazz and Sask Jazz) free stage giving the crowd sooth jazzy tunes to tap their toe to. Below are a few pictures from that performance.

On June 30 at 8 p.m., Absofunkinlutely took the stage at the Sasktel Saskatchewan Jazz Festival (#saskjazz and Sask Jazz) free stage and they had the crowd hoping, bouncing and dancing to their upbeat lyrics, modern feel, and one amazing horn section.

Michel Fournier 2010 Attempt ~ North Battleford

On May 16, 2010, former French paratrooper Michel Fournier attempted to launch to the edge of space for the fifth time at the North Battleford airport in Saskatchewan. Due to a difference in barometric pressure, according to early reports, his rescue chute deployed inside the capsule. The parachute is supposed to be deployed at either the equivalent of 300 meters or when it senses that it is falling at a rate of over 40 ft/sec. Fournier's next attempt will most likely be May 19.
