LMFAO and Far East Movement

Dec 15 - If there's one thing I learned this past week, is that LMFAO rocks the beat, and the show. I got really luck and was able to snag a press pass for LMFAO and Far East Movement at CUC on December 15. It was a huge experience that I'll never forget. Hopefully I'll be able to look at more concerts in the future. Click here for more info and to see the pictures.

AUG 7 - This year, for the thid year in a row, I had the chance to cover the entire Wake Ride 2011 festival in Victoria Park. This year was the largest that I have seen covering an area from River Landing II to Victoria Park. It also featured three massive slider pools, some of the biggest names in music and Pro and Amateur Wake Boarders. Blades vs Kootenay Ice - April 9

Apr 16 -- The Saskatoon Blades hosted Game 2 of a best of seven series against Kootenay Ice on April 9. The Blades ended up losing that game as well as the next two to be knocked out of the second round of playoffs. Unfortunately the season has ended and the players have gone their separate ways, and thank you Saskatoon Blades Hockey Club for one excellent year of hockey! Mar 4-5 -- The U of S Huskies took home the Gold Medal during the Canada West Women's Basketball Finals and ended up being the only Canada West team in the CIS Final 8. Unfortunately, they lost the gold medal game at the CIS Finals, but the U of S Huskie Women's Basketball Team can be proud of what they have accomplished this year and everyone is proud of them. Jan 22 -- The Saskatoon Blades' Brayden Schenn took to the ice earlier tonight for the first time as a Saskatoon Blade and for the first time since his appearance at the IIHF U20 World Junior Championship. Jan 21 -- The U of S Huskies Women's and Men's basketball teams hosted the University of Thompson Rivers, Manitoba in action at the PAC earlier tonight. The Women struggled at first to hold a lead but in the end walked away victorious continuing their winning streak to 11 games with a score of 78-60. Jan 15 -- The Saskatoon Blades after winning 5-2 on the road against swift current last night, lost 3-2 tonight in Saskatoon at Credit Union Center. It was Hockey Day in Saskatchewan though so all 8800+ fans did have the blades pumped up. Projects ~ Behind the U of S Huskies Banner - January 5, 2011

Jan 5 -- Back in October, I had the chance to do some studio action shots of the U of S Huskies Sports Teams. These photos were and are hanging in the PAC Gymnasium standing about 15 feet tall... But that wasn't the end of those photos. In December, I learned that they were going to be going onto the side of the Griffiths Stadium Parkade: 40 feet tall. Nov 14 -- Lately, I've found myself going through the galleries on my website, and I've found that I shoot the men's sports a lot more than I shoot the women's sports, so this week, I decided to shoot the women's volleyball team at the U of S more than I shot the men's as they played the Calgary Dinos. Nov 14 -- Not only did the Saskatoon Blades have legendary rocker Gene Simmons and Shannon Tweed at Friday night's game, but they also hosted the Portland Winterhawks in a contest where the blades ended up winning 4-3. During the first intermission, five fans got the chance to score a goal on Gene Simmons as he played netminder. He walked away with a .666 save percentage stopping three of five shots. A couple of the photos below are ideas that I've seen from other photographers and I've always wanted to try grabbing the photos for myself. The next time the Blades are at home is Nov. 23. Nov 13 -- The Saskatoon Blades had some special guests last night at their game. Not only was it PBR night featuring Asquith-born Aaron Roy, but Gene Simmons and Shannon Tweed, most recently known for their reality TV show "Gene Simmons Family Jewels," made a stop at the game as well. Shannon dropped the puck to kick off the game, and Gene entertained the crowd by playing netminder during the first intermission. Check out the photos below. Saskatoon Blades vs Seattle Thunderbirds - Nov 9, 2010

Nov 11 -- The Saskatoon Blades took the Seattle Thunderbirds on and led most of the game but in the last few minutes of the third period, Seattle came back to tie the game out. In the end, Seattle took the game to overtime, then a shootout taking the game 5-4. This was also the first chance that I got to shoot in the rafters of Credit Union Centre. U of S Huskies Sports Weekend - Nov 4-6, 2010

Nov 11 -- Once again, Nov 4-6 was a Huskies Sports Weekend filled with sports from Nov 4 to 6. Volleyball started the week off, followed by women's hockey. Saturday say the semi-finals for the Canada West Championship where the Huskies unfortunately lost to the University of Alberta Golden Bears. That evening also had men's and women's basketball. U of S Huskies Sports Weekend - Oct 29-30, 2010

November 1 -- Friday night had the Huskies hosting the last game of their regular season Football putting them in first place for Western Canada. They will play again this Saturday, November 6, and I'll be there to catch all of the quarter final action. As well, this weekend the Women's and Men's Basketball teams hosted the University of Victoria. On Saturday night, the Men's Basketball team also celebrated their CIS Championship Win from the 2009-10 Season. It was fun filled and eventful evening with smiles on everyone's faces. 2010 Saskatoon Fireworks Festival

September 3 and 4 brought River Landing and surrounding area in Saskatoon alive with cultural entertainment, great bands, and two amazing nights of fireworks. I had the honour of shooting the event along with two other photographers, Earl Misanchuk and Darrel Noakes. I was covering the Cultural Showcase and River Level Fireworks. To be able to photograph pretty much anything that happens around us is one thing that I am always trying to do. In this case, I was driving to River Landing in Saskatoon to test out the 1.4x Teleconverter I had ordered from Lens Rentals Canada for Wake Ride, and came across a couple of jugglers in front of the Delta Bessborough. Pictured is one of the jugglers that was down there that evening.

July 9-11 saw Wired 96.3 presenting the second annual Wakeride 2010. Filled with wake riding on the river, slider pools, beer gardens, kids area, awesome food and kickass bands, no one left the all day outdoor festival unhappy. Below are photos and a video compilation from the day.

July 1, Canada Day, brought an amazing fireworks display at Dakota Dunes Casino just south of Saskatoon. The spectacle which drew an extremely large crowd of people lasted just under 45 minutes and was well worth the mosquito bites. Full video and photo gallery found below.

On June 30 at 8 p.m., Absofunkinlutely took the stage at the Sasktel Saskatchewan Jazz Festival (#saskjazz and Sask Jazz) free stage and they had the crowd hoping, bouncing and dancing to their upbeat lyrics, modern feel, and one amazing horn section.

Michel Fournier 2010 Attempt ~ North Battleford

On May 16, 2010, former French paratrooper Michel Fournier attempted to launch to the edge of space for the fifth time at the North Battleford airport in Saskatchewan. Due to a difference in barometric pressure, according to early reports, his rescue chute deployed inside the capsule. The parachute is supposed to be deployed at either the equivalent of 300 meters or when it senses that it is falling at a rate of over 40 ft/sec. Fournier's next attempt will most likely be May 19.
