Awards

2009 - Saskatchewan Weekly Newspaper Association Photographer of the Year

One great picture could be a fluke, but to take consistently outstanding photos takes not only skill, but patience, creativity and the desire to go beyond the obvious and tell people a story they might not expect.

Josh Schaefer's work at the Battlefords News Optimist exemplifies all of these qualities. The photos submitted showed creativity in the approach he took to his subjects, originality both in planning and on the scene thinking, as well as skill and the willingness to try something different.

In particular, Schaefer's body of work was due to the variety presented, which only further emphasized his dedication to his craft and the attitude with which he approaches his work.
